Netbook Reflection 2013
This year I have just completed my 2nd year with a netbook. This is my 2012 reflection.
The positives I experienced this year include the interacting with peers in our classroom. We get the chance to post new things on our blog that we share with people all around the world but also, responding to the work our friends have done too. This year we got to Learn, Create and Share. We all got to achieve most of our goals and
This year I’ve learnt a lot more about my netbook such as doing my work on different google docs applications such as spreadsheet, Creating a various amount of graphs( leaf and steam, pie, column, bar, line.), presentation documents and google template. Now I wonder if next year we as Manaiakalani netbook students at Tamaki Primary will we be able to take our netbooks home next year?
It has been another year I have spent at school with my netbook and can I just say I really enjoy using it.

Some negatives that occurred this year was the slow internet connection. There have been sometimes where there were easy access to games and some unnecessary websites during learning which I think is where we need to take responsibility for our learning and use of netbooks.

It Is Good To Save Energy
We can use as much energy as we want but do you notice how much of it we are wasting as every second goes by?
Everyday we all use energy in different types of ways we turn on lights, use cars, do washing etc, but by using all of this we could be looking at a future with no energy left. It will probably cause less damage to our world because at the moment all the greenhouse gases that we are creating like CO2 and methane gas is all getting trapped and is what's making our world more warmer. It is good to save energy because it can help you save more money on paying the power bill. It is also good because it might make you learn from your mistakes in the past and get it right in the future. Did you know that saving energy produces global warming?
Try to turn off the lights or anything else when you’re not using them and make sure that it isn’t on standby because it can still use up energy, block any upper or lower floors so the heat traps in and turn off running taps if you want to save energy. This prevents global warming.
CO2 comes from all that wasted energy that we use day by day which is what warms up the earth, and when the earth warms up and gases get trapped, ice melts and more mammals are becoming extinct. Mammals that live in the ice (Antarctica) will eventually have less ice to live on as the ice melts, and pacific islands will have less land too because of the rising sea levels. In the past our elders/ancestors used to walk to school, work or wherever they wanted to, they washed clothes by hand, played outside and didn’t use as much energy as we do now. Sometimes it makes me think and say why can’t we still do that today? Was it better in the past? Why do we have to use so much power?
So remember saving energy is a good thing which will help our future be sustainable. Remember that it is only YOU that can make that difference.

Team Building Game.
Today myself and my class friends got given a team building task which included team work and cooperating with each other and friendship. We had to stand in a circle with tangled hands and try to untangle ourselves without breaking the circle or losing touch with the hand we were holding. The hardest part was that we were trying to find the right strategy to use. Other then that my group worked hard, we did not give up, took risks and with the help of our friend, Alison she led us into risks and encouragement.

N.Z Shake Out Day.
At 9:26 there was an earthquake drill. I was at my desk, so I dropped, covered and held to stay safe.
One thing we did well at T.P.S was that we all gathered together instantly and made sure everyone was OK.One thing I want to work on next time is making sure that I make sure I listen to instructions carefully so that I am safe. Our meeting place is in our school hall. Remember, in the event of an earthquake....
DROP, COVER AND HOLD!

My Koro Description
Koro.
Our Koro likes to wear his hat through sun and rain, he has a beautiful hair colour - and YES its grey! He loves to wear his shorts, singlets and his boots when it is a beaming sunny day. He has the eyes of a wise man, a smile that beams through the dark and the eyes of a warrior who has been here for us every day.
When we hear ‘Kia Ora!’ We all know that Koro is around. He greets us like no other, he cheers for us in Kapa Haka and when we are singing the last of the lyrics of the song he always says, ‘Oooh beautiful singing!’ He makes us feel proud of ourselves. He never lets us down but he always reminds us ‘Make sure you pick up our rubbish!’ Before the bell.
Koro likes a lot of things, but he especially loves rugby. His favourite team is the Chiefs.
He dislikes it when we drop rubbish when he has to pick it up but if we have spare some we help him out by picking up our own rubbish but our school expectation is to put our rubbish in the bin to make all our lives easier .
Koro is an organised man, he is able to maintain his inner strength and he is filled with cheerfulness and his sense of humor that goes a very long way. He is always there to fix whatever is in need and is there to cheer us whenever we have kapa haka. He picks up rubbish around our school, he never ignores us and and that is one thing we like about him.
Koro is special to us because he is always there to help us in many different ways, he cheers for us, cleans for us and he is not just a caretaker he is an amazing man with a big heart for us all.

Day 4 Investegation
We had all come together and investigated both Dandelion and Daisy once again.
Dandelion (the plant under the dark box) is still in the same position it just has a few light spots around it and a few more leafs are growing from the other stems.
Daisy(the plant getting a tan in the sun) is sadly dying but is still standing strong. A few leaves are dead but we hope that it will grow and stop dying.
I hypothesis that Dandelion will continue to grow and hopefully Daisy won't lose any more leaves.

Day 3 Investagation
We invested our plants once again and have noticed that there has been a slight change to both of our plants. The plant that we left under the sun has not grown but most of the leaves are dieing.
The plant that we left under the dark box has grown and hasn't changed which was Surprising to see because I had hypothesis that the plant in the sun would grow much faster.
Now I am really thinking about the future changes like will the plant that we leave in the sun will die? Or will the plant that we leave under the dark box survive?

Day 2 Investegation
Today myself and my group investigated our plants and have noticed that the plant we left inside he box didn't make any progress but the outside of the leaves had turned light green and the plant that we left on the window was still the same but the roots had expanded. Now I am wondering if the plant that we are leaving under the box is going to get lighter and lighter and die or are the roots expanding but slowly? Are the plants going to survive or are they going to die?

Tamaki Primary Academy Awards 2012
Gazing
down from the plain classroom window, all I could see was a spectacular
scene of children dressed like millionaires. As if they were going to a
formal or a ball. Then the bell rang and we all lined up on the dots.
When we all sat down, I could see all the teachers dressed like
beautiful/handsome superstars and the red carpet that laid lifelessly on
the rough concrete leading to the school hall.
Mrs Hansell greeted us all in an enthusiastic tone. We then made our
way down to the hall class by class. Now it was finally our turn we all
walked down the red carpet with our class, it was cool because it felt
like as if we were famous. When entered the hall we all sat down and
waited for everybody to be seated. Finally we got welcomed to the Tamaki
Primary Academy Awards and started watching all the inspiring movies,
that all classes made during the subject of “Movie Magic.”
All
the movies were amazing and entertaining to see because it was a time
to come together as a school to see all the improvements made and how
much we all learnt during “Movie Magic.” When we finished watching all
the AWESOME movies it was time for the awards, so each teacher gave
awards to their class for script writer, editor, best actor etc.
Everybody took photos with their awards and that was the end of the
Tamaki Primary Academy Awards, so our class (room 8) went back to class
and got the food prepared for our shared lunch.
Having
shared lunch was awesome because it was nice to see us all laughing and
reflecting over the day but most importantly seeing that everyone was
happy.

The Big Stunt
The Big Stunt.
I was waiting at the top of the highest ramp at the motor cross dirt track, I was thinking of what stunt I was going to make. When I looked at all my fans screaming at the to of their lungs screaming out my name, I didn’t want to let them down SO.... I was wanting to take the biggest risk and have my name published in news papers “saying that I broke the worlds #01 stunt record of the world”.
Now was the time to make my stunt of my life so I went off and went as fast as lightning flickering at night . I shivered with fear thinking of falling off my motorbike or landing it and making my fans proud, my heart pounded faster and faster as every second of this special moment went past.
I was now finally up in the air going to do a back flip and then an unbelievable super man2000 into the gusty air with her motorbike, I landed with an extraordinarily 50 vertical bunny-hop. The crowd screamed rapidly as if they had seen Micheal Jordan take a slam dunk and made the final goal. YYEAAAAA!!! The screamed and just then I though I was deaf just for a second, listing to the screams witch were extremely loud.
As I came off my motorbike feeling like butterflies were flying in my stomach, knowing how many smiles I put on little children's faces, and knowing how happy I made others as well.
